MEET YOUR LIBRARIAN!

Camille Williams has been the Monroe Librarian since 2022. She  is a Boise native and can’t imagine living anywhere else to raise her family. Each of her children attended Monroe and she was a part of the Monroe community for 23 years as a parent

Developing relationships with young readers as they search for something new to read is a passion of hers. Being able to pair a student with a favorite genre is a priority that she hopes will lead to a lifelong love of reading.  Students are welcome to visit the library any time. Not just to check out a book, but to take a break, reset, and clear their mind in preparation to tackle the new things they are learning.

She has partnered with BSU and the OnRamp program in teaching technology which has been a highlight for the library. Along with organizing and participating in the Idaho Battle of the Books program the Monroe library is a place for growth and creativity.

She hopes that the Monroe Library is a welcoming, peaceful space for all students who enter and that they may feel encouraged, loved and curious!

FUN FACT:

When she was in elementary school she had a close relationship with her school librarian. That is one reason she loves to read. One summer she grew five inches. Her body was too tired to do much, so she spent that whole summer reading. She still has that same library card, from that summer, she used at the Boise Public Library. It is the same card she uses today!

MISSION STATEMENT:

“Libraries can be adventurous and safe places for all people to discover who they are, their likes and dislikes, where they want to go and who they want to become."

May every student who enters our Monroe Library feel encouraged, loved and curious!

Our Vision

Every student a reader; every learner an explorer. We envision a district where every student builds a unique reading identity and possesses the critical thinking skills to navigate a changing world with confidence and curiosity.

Our Mission

The Library Services program provides an adaptive "in-between" space where students connect classroom learning to personal passion. We foster a lifelong love of literacy and provide a safe, supportive environment for students to explore, fail, try again, and grow.

Our Values

Belonging: We are a sanctuary for all students, reflecting their interests and welcoming their authentic selves. Agency: we empower students to take ownership of their learning and develop their own voice. Agility: We adapt our programs and spaces to meet the evolving needs of our schools and community. Integration: We bridge the gaps between content areas, making learning cohesive and relevant.
